Free Birds

Free Birds (expression)

The potter decided to make some birds with clay
Gradually shaped them with wings wide spread
Fly my little friends…as your time has come, he said!
Painted them beautifully with his fine brush
Finishing up the details he thought
How will I hold them together?
He added a string through each of them
A thread for responsibilities
One for smiling when times will be hard
One for holding back the tears when you really can’t
One for going on…even if you are shattered
And one for getting up again after life takes you down
Ah…now they look nice, together and bound!
How beautifully they will move round and round
Circle of life or a mere chime? His words!
A smile on his face as he called them… ‘Free Birds’
